Good post Scott. I agree that retailers should consider Beacons. They should also think through the privacy issues as some of the early adopting companies have had negative feedback from customers who found the Facebook pop-up on the third party site a little intrusive. It's good to think about the right opt-in/out strategy before jumping in.

How do you see this working on CSE sites? What actions would you beacon if you were one of the CSEs?

Thanks for the Beacon link. This looks like a huge opportunity to integrate shopping and social networking in entirely new ways.

Thanks for lifting the veil off Beacon, Scott. I didn't get this feature 'til reading your post; I just shared on my FB profile as I imagine others are just as befuddled. :)

Scott,

I'm been thinking a lot about beacon and the fan page system , especially regarding collaboration development and building conversation spaces to amplify you core base.

If you have a few min stop by a take a read through my latest post:

I don't get why you open your post with the bit about how you're not a Facebook "Fan Boy", but whatever.....why aren't you recommending your readers to build "fan pages", on FB, for their businesses...they are easy to create and understand, and they are FREE!
